The Carlsen ADU, located in the scenic hills of Oakland, California, is a masterful transformation of a semi-basement space into a charming and functional junior ADU. With 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and a comfortable living and kitchen area, this conversion was tailored to maximize the potential of the existing structure while embracing the client’s vision.
The semi-basement initially featured a bathroom and storage area. We preserved the bathroom as it was, reimagining the remaining space into a thoughtfully designed living environment. The bedroom was strategically positioned to the south, offering breathtaking, panoramic views of San Francisco's downtown skyline, perfectly aligning with the client’s desire to capture the home’s best vistas.
